Create with Intention

When you start talking about business ideas with your kids, the list might grow quickly or your child might look at you and say, “I have no idea.” Both are okay. As adults, we’ve seen more of the marketplace with a variety of businesses, products and services. Kids may not yet recognize all the ways people use their skills to earn money. 

Lately, a conversation with a client has me thinking about something I’m excited to explore… not only with her family, but with my own kids, too. She and her 12-year-old daughter recently attended a leadership and business event together. Her daughter came home inspired, full of ideas, and interested in finding ways to make money.

Last week, I shared the beginning of a digital product launch that had me completely rethinking the way I create, market and monetize what I know. Now the cart is closed—and I have even more thoughts. The six-day launch is officially over. And the grand total? $313,036. But as impressive as that number is, it's everything that happened around it that has me thinking differently about my own business.

Over the last several weeks, I have been following a creator on Instagram whose content journey has absolutely lit a fire under me. Then yesterday, I watched the digital product she had been building launch in real time and generate $44,578 in its first 12 hours. Before you read that number and think this is another story about how you can throw together a $37 digital product and magically make $44,000, let me stop you. That is not why I'm sharing this story... Yes, her results are extraordinary, they are her results, and there is no guarantee that someone else will experience the same thing. What has inspired me isn't simply what happened during those 12 hours. It's everything she did in the months leading up to them...
