International Women's Day | How 2020 Challenged Me for the Better

Today is International Women’s Day and the theme for this year is “Choose to Challenge.” I’ve never really paid much attention to this day in the past but for some reason, I feel compelled to sit down and write about what today means to me since this past year has brought about a variety of challenges.

In 2020, my family found ourselves directly affected by all the layoffs that happened as a result of the pandemic. As a stay-at-home mom, I depend solely on my husband to provide for our family. Sure, I have a small business educating on health, wellness + using essential oils but my income was nowhere near enough to keep us afloat.

Thank goodness we had savings because it took nearly 2 months to get unemployment of which we still haven’t received the back payments for but I digress.

Fortunately, my husband found a job fairly quickly but the experience shook me to my core. It ignited an internal fire and entrepreneurial spirit that I could no longer ignore. I have always had the desire to be an entrepreneur and yes, while I have “dabbled” in network marketing, I have never 100% committed to any endeavor and treated it like an actual business daily (if I’m being honest with myself).

Last year, when so many people were becoming more interested in natural options to help them stay well, my network marketing business began to grow even more. For those in Young Living, I hit the rank of Silver and when I hit Silver 3 months in a row, I earned a FREE trip to the Young Living Lavender farm in Mona, Utah. Hopefully, I will be going sometime later in the year. The income I brought in, paid for 100% of our family’s wellness products last year which meant I didn’t have to calculate them into our monthly budget! This was such a blessing.

As fear, stress, and anxiety tried to randomly creep in, I started focusing on other areas of my life like taking more time for personal self-care (especially since I had quit nursing my son after 28 months) and implementing a morning gratitude practice.

I was constantly listening to what I like to call “good noise,” basically books on audio, educational videos, podcasts, or webinars.... essentially anything that has to do with personal + professional development. For far too long, I had listened to “good noise” but wasn’t always the best at implementation and follow-through. I am still a work in progress but I am actively working to improve at this.

Knowledge is power… when it is applied. Ouch. I read that and it was a kick in the pants for me.

I realized I wanted to live life differently. I’ve been on this journey trying to find myself outside of just being a stay-at-home mom. At the end of the day, I know I have a deep desire to help and serve others while being able to be present and active in my children’s lives plus financially contribute to our household. I finally gave myself permission to dream, set goals and actively work towards achieving them, GUILT-FREE.

This past year, I dug deep to unlock blocks and I’m working to release fears so that I can confidently speak my truth, seek truth unapologetically, and live my truth on high vibrations, with love, and grace.

After finding my new business coach Martha Krejci, I had a heart-to-heart with my husband about my plans + passions she helped to pull out of me. It was important to have his support. This would be a team effort at times. What I have learned from Martha in the last 6 months has completely rocked my world in the best and most challenging way. I never imagined I would be working towards dreams that I have written down on paper, but I’ve got a plan and goals that are helping to keep me on track.

My cousin and I decided to pursue a passion project and are currently writing a children’s book.

And how can I forget...on my 38th birthday, I said YES to becoming a Certified Oola Life Coach so that I can help other people in 7 areas they need to find balance and grow to live the life of their dreams too!

And most importantly, on this journey of self-discovery, I uncovered a true passion of wanting to help women who have been struggling with infertility, boost their fertility health and hopefully improve their ability to conceive naturally if that is their desire. I’ve got a natural fertility program in the works and I just created a 14-day clean living challenge in my natural fertility group for those ready to start ditching the toxic products.

I don’t say all this to toot my own horn. It’s quite the opposite. I tell you this because your goals and dreams are worth pursuing. Today, I’m celebrating the women who inspire me and those women who have fought for our rights to help better our families our communities, and humanity. To all the women who are finding the courage to speak their truth. To all the women pushing boundaries. To all the women learning to love themselves. To all the women who are finally prioritizing their self-care… You are enough. You are beautiful. You are WORTH it.

Whatever goal you set. I hope you crush it. Whatever dream you desire. I pray you achieve it.

Happy International Women’s Day 2021

I'd love to celebrate a win with YOU...what goal, dream or passion are you pursuing?
